It’s official: TV sucks

h1 July 9th, 2006

I had to post about this article in the Sydney Morning Herald reporting on some recent upheaval at Channel Nine (one of the major Television networks in Australia).

In short, a member of  upper management at Nine has allegedly admitted that their program A Current Affair has little to do with journalism. This is part of an affidavit from an ex-Nine employee. Seriously, we don’t need a disputed affidavit to figure that out.

More Gold: In the same article Sam Newman opines that the recent round of sackings at Nine carried out by Eddie McGuire were only “…sacking insignificant and incompetent people”. Sam - have you looked in the mirror? Sam Newman is one of the biggest tools on TV. I hope he doesn’t wiggle his way out of this round of redundancies. If he does, everyone else would have to have a fair case for unfair dismissal, surely?

  1. Australian Journalism is a joke! Especially shows like A Current Affair and Today Tonight. Every night they report some stupid story on how the “Australian Public are outraged!” that some knob from Campbelltown (equivalent suburb Inala and any other banged up area you can think of) has been bludging on the doll or how “The Australian Public are outraged!” that they’re only getting 400g of veges when the pack they bought from the supermarket said 550g. How the hell do you know what the “Australian Public” feel?! I’m part of the Australian Public who feel that you should stop telling us how we feel and go to hell! A kid is getting his head blown off on the other side of the world in a war that he had nothing to do with and you’re telling me that i’m outraged that i’m not getting 550g of veges like the pack said?….Plonker!!!

The other bone I have to pick with television is the amount of crime shows they have now. CSI Miami, CSI New York, or you can just have CSI. Law and Order SVU, Law and Order Criminal Intent or you can just have Law and Order. Earth to people who watch these shows……..it’s a dead body that died - just in a different place. I was talking with one of my mates and he made a very valid comment that with the amount of chopped up dead bodies and bludgeonings we see on tele - if we did actually see a dead body, i’m sure we wouldn’t flinch so much coz we see so much of it.

Big Brother needs to die. Eddie McGuire and Sam Newman need to admit to their hot affair……and then die, The OC needs to GB (get bent) for teaching our 13 yr olds that it’s cool to be slutty and vomit your guts out so you can look like the near skeletons that “act” on the show…..you know i could keep going with the garbage they put on tele but I won’t - coz there aren’t enough days in the year. I’ll just advise you to not watch tv……. coz it blows.
